Yunus SaatçiAcademic BiographyFor my undergraduate studies I studied Computer Science at Cambridge University. After completing my undergraduate degree, I worked for one year as a research and teaching assistant under the supervision of Dr. Richard Gibbens. After the assistantship, I moved to Edinburgh University to pursue a Master's Degree in Informatics, focussing on the "Learning From Data" specialism. I was supervised by Dr. Amos Storkey. I am now a Ph.D. student back in Cambridge under the supervision of Dr. Carl Rasmussen.I am a proponent of using Bayesian and nonparametric Bayesian methods for many machine learning problems. The use of these methods frequently results in computationally intensive algorithms. My research interests revolve around devising techniques to improve the scalability of Bayesian methods, be it through careful algorithmic design, approximate inference or the effective use of parallelism. My Ph.D. can be viewed as a compendium of tricks one can use to speed up exact inference and learning for Gaussian Processes. You can check it out here. For further details please see my CV. |
