About Me
I'm a PhD candidate in the Machine Learning Group of the Computational and Biological Learning Lab at the Department of Engineering in the University of Cambridge where my advisor is Professor Zoubin Ghahramani. I am supported by a Microsoft Reseach PhD Scholarship and as such co-advised by Ralf Herbrich. Before starting my PhD I was a Master student at the University of Wisconsin in Madison working with Professor Jerry Zhu. I have an undergraduate degree from Leuven. At Cambridge, I am a member of Wolfson College.
Research
My research interests are centered around probabilistic methods for machine learning. On the theoretical side, I work on integrating time in probabilistic models; e.g. continuous time Bayesian networks, stochastic processes, ... and how to do (approximate) inference in these models. On the practical side, I am very enthousiastic about using machine learning to solve problems in the systems domain; e.g. root cause analysis, dependency analysis, ... Doing this research, I like to pay special attention to choosing the right tools and infrastructure to cope with real and large datasets.
